Delegation of pupils from Karlsruhe (Germany) arrived in Krasnodar

Krasnodar city hall held official reception of Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium pupils. The guests from Germany were greeted by Deputy Head of Krasnodar Tatiana Sunyugina.

— On behalf of Head of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov I’m happy to welcome you in Krasnodar. This year Krasnodar celebrates its 222nd birthday. Delegations of Krasnodar’s sister cities and partners from Karlsruhe, Harbin, Sukhumi, Yerevan and for the first time French Nancy will come here to celebrate our City Day jointly. It is of great importance for us that all the guests feel very comfortable and experience hospitality of Krasnodar citizens. I’d like to wish you brilliant, unforgettable impressions from staying in our city and visiting Olympic facilities in Sochi. Indeed, the future of sister city relations between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe depends exactly from you, the younger generation, — Tatiana Sinyugina said.

The meeting was also participated by Deputy Chief of Administrative Department, Chief of the Department of foreign relations and protocol of Krasnodar administration Boris Staroselskiy, lecturer of the department of German Philology in Kuban State University Sergey Bychkov, pupils of the city schools.

During her speech Tatiana Sinyugina told about the education system of Kuban capital, about subjects learned in the city schools and the study of foreign languages in Krasnodar’s educational institutions. She informed that beginning from this year school children learn two compulsory foreign languages instead of one and that more and more Krasnodar’s pupils choose German as a second language.

Lecturer of Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Irene Gier responded on behalf of German delegation.

— It is the fourth time we come in Krasnodar and now we are able to draw certain conclusions from our sister city relations. We clearly understand that our pupils not only get knowledge of history and culture of Krasnodar but also establish new contacts and, eventually, strengthen ties between peoples, — Irene Gier said.

The meeting ended with informal communications and exchange of gifts.
