56 thousand people participated in 1st May demonstration in Krasnodar

Today thousands citizens festively marched along the street. The traditional May Day procession was led by Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev and Head of the city of Krasnodar Evgeny Pervyshov.

— May Day is traditionally celebrated in Krasnodar grandly, this is truly favourite holiday of the citizens. Everyone tries to come to this activity with families, with children. This year, yet more labour collectives have expressed their desire to participate in the demonstration on the day of spring and labour, and more applications have been submitted from various enterprises and institutions of regional center than in previous years. This proves the popularity of May Day festival, — Evgeny Pervyshov said.

May Day demonstration was participated by students, labour collectives, representatives of political parties and social movements, trade unions, veterans' organizations, employees of the city and regional administrations, the administrations of Krasnodar urban districts.

The column was headed by Governor of Kuban Veniamin Kondratiev, Chairman of Legislative Assembly of Krasnodar Region Vladimir Beketov, Head of Krasnodar Evgeny Pervyshov, Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko, Vice-Governors of Kuban and Deputy Heads of the city, deputies of regional Legislative Assembly and the City Duma.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Heroes of the Soviet Union, Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory, liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear accident and combat veterans also went in the first line of the demonstration. Representatives of Krasnodar local branch of the Russian political party "United Russia" followed them.

May Day demonstration took place in the main street of the city for about three hours. Near the building of Krasnodar Region Legislative Assembly from the rostrum the demonstrators were greeted by Veniamin Kondratiev, Vladimir Beketov, Evgeny Pervyshov, Vera Galushko, leaders of social organizations, veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
