Youth orchestra of Karlsruhe (Germany) was received in Krasnodar City Hall

Youth delegation of musicians from the German sister-city of Karlsruhe arrived in Krasnodar with a one-week visit. Today Chairwoman of Krasnodar City Duma Vera Galushko and Deputy Head of Krasnodar Liliana Yegorova held a reception of foreign guests in City Hall of Krasnodar.

— On behalf of all citizens of our city I welcome musicians of Youth orchestra of Karlsruhe! For us it is very honourable and significant to receive the delegation of our sister-city, in particular, for the first time the delegation of your youth music collective. Our bilateral relations started thanks to the youth contacts in the late 80s — early 90s past century. For more than 20 years the relations have been developing in many spheres and levels: in economy, culture, education, healthcare, sport. Such contacts as yours — between representatives of the creative youth — Youth orchestra of Karlsruhe and Krasnodar’s youth jazz band “New Wave” are chiefly important, — Vera Galushko said.

The meeting was also participated by Chief of the department of foreign relations and protocol Boris Staroselskiy, members of Krasnodar’s youth jazz band “New Wave”.

Karlsruhe’s Youth orchestra delegation led by band director Mr. Thomas Pach and Chairwoman of Supervisory board of the orchestra Mrs. Doctor Ute Fahrbach-Dreher arrived in Krasnodar for the first time. Within the framework of one-week visit foreign guests will get acquainted with the capital of Kuban, and also for the first time present two joint concerts: the first in municipal concert hall and the second, on May 21 — outdoor concert in front of Music Theatre in Krasnaya Street 44.

Vera Galushko told the German delegation representatives about history and modern development of Krasnodar, the main city sightseeing attractions which can be viewed during the scheduled excursions. Chairwoman of the City Duma also emphasized the importance of established trusting relationships between sister-cities and youth creative collectives.

As it was mentioned the first meeting of two orchestras happened in Karlsruhe in 2010 at International jazz festival “Come Together”. Over more than 5 years of friendship there were numerous meetings, mutual visits, joint projects. The previous year Krasnodar orchestra “New Wave” attended the celebrations of the 300th anniversary of Karlsruhe, and this year the German sister-city artists came in Krasnodar with a return visit.

— We are very happy to visit our guests. Here is the possibility to learn about Krasnodar’s history, culture and the musical life. We now know how skillful musicians of “New Wave” orchestra are. They play originally and in masterly fashion. So we are happy to participate in our joint concert. We’ll do our best to make it successful, — Mrs. Ute Fahrbach-Dreher said.

Representatives of both parties shaped plans for the following cooperation. Vera Galushko invited the collective to come to Krasnodar’s summer youth center “Dubrava” and take part in celebrations of the City Day in September 2016. Accompanied by the applause musicians of Youth orchestra of Karlsruhe a cappella performed the Russian song “Kalinka”.

Karlsruhe is one of seven sister-cities of Krasnodar. In 1992 Krasnodar and Karlsruhe signed the joint declaration of the cities on establishing friendship relations; in 1997 the parties conclude sister city agreement.
