Commemorative activities will be held in Krasnodar on the Day of solidarity with the fight against terrorism

On September 3, a "Candle of Memory" action commemorating the Day of solidarity with the fight against terrorism will be held in the regional centre.

"As we remember the victims of Beslan and all terrorist acts, as well as law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the performance of their professional duty, we are united in our intention to counter terrorism by all the means, to prevent extremism," was noted by the organizers.

The "Candle of Memory" action will begin at 8 p.m. in G.K.Zhukov garden square in Krasnaya Street.

It is expected more than 1000 people to participate in the "Candle of Memory" action: students of Krasnodar universities and secondary specialized colleges, schoolchildren, representatives of youth patriotic associations and community clubs.

Before the start of the action there will be a prayer service, after which the participants shall burn the candles and release 300 white balloons into the sky in memory of the children, parents and teachers who lost their lives in September 2004 as a result of the terrorist attack at the school No. 1 in North Ossetia.

The inscription "We remember" will be made of 300 lit candles.

The commemoration of the terrorist acts victims will also take place in all schools of the city on September 3.

Every year on September 3, Russia commemorates the Day of solidarity with the fight against terrorism. This commemorative date of Russia was established in 2005 by the Federal Law "On Days of Military Glory of Russia" and is associated with the tragic events in Beslan (North Ossetia,  September 1-3, 2004), when the militants captured one of the city's schools. As a result of the attack, more than 300 people died in the school No. 1, including over 150 children.
