The project is recognized as one of the best joint projects between Russia and Germany implemented at the municipal level.
Russian Foreign Minister Mr.Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Mr.Heiko Maas presented the Mayor of Krasnodar Mr.Evgeny Pervyshov and Mayor of Karlsruhe, Dr. Frank Mentrup, a certificate of honor for their significant contribution to the development of regional and municipal cooperation between Russia and Germany in 2018 in Berlin at the ceremony summing up the results of the Year of Russian-German regional-municipal partnerships.
Contacts between Krasnodar and Karlsruhe in the field of medicine have been actively developing since the 1990s. The project "Internships and refresher courses for doctors and nurses at the City Clinic Karlsruhe" has been implemented on a regular basis for many years. Representatives of Krasnodar medical institutions undergo a three-week internship at the City Clinic Karlsruhe every year in February-March.
During their stay, doctors from Krasnodar get acquainted with the German medical system. They undergo internships and participate in the workflow of various departments: from anesthesiology, trauma surgery to neurosurgery. Nurses from Krasnodar have the opportunity to attend refresher courses.
City Clinic Karlsruhe was founded in 1907. 1538 places are currently provided here for the provision of inpatient care. Medical services are provided by about 3,300 full-time employees.
A return visit to Krasnodar was organized in 2019: three nurses from the City Clinic Karlsruhe came to the Krasnodar City Clinical Emergency Hospital for the purpose of professional exchange.
